FM has been labelled as the most addictive game ever made, and id probably agree with that statement. Once you get going, its so hard to stop. Most people say its because of how ‘realistic’ the game is, which is funny because when i think of a ‘realistic’ game, i always come to the conclusion of thinking ‘how can a game where you sit behind your computer screen clicking buttons be realistic’. Obviously, were talking bout the game-play here, which is brilliantly realistic without a doubt. Is this what makes FM so addictive? I’m not sure.

Its a question that hasn’t really been given an answer, or a thoughtful explanation, yet one which everyone tends to agree with. I am one of those ‘on and off’ people, when it comes to FM. I have spells, where i wont play for months, then suddenly find myself indulged in a game and playing it up to ridiculous hours in the morning every night. But what makes it so addictive? I think its got something to do with how the game plays, the flow of it, which always makes you think ‘oh only another couple of clicks till the next game, might as-well finished the season off’. That’s a biggy for me, as soon as i approach the slightest glimmer of the end of the season, i HAVE to finish it. The excitement of a brand new season never fails to quite literally get me jumping with joy at the prospect of a £30million transfer kitty or signing about 20 free agents in the summer.

I also get the ‘FM urge’ as i like to call it. I normally get it when watching a football match on TV, or watching some kind of football related programme where their talking about football in a in-depth way, which makes me think. ‘I want to go and play FM now’. Sounds sad i no, but its an effect the game has on me, and you lot as-well. Also, when playing Pro Evo with a specific team, i sometimes get the urge to turn it off and boot up FM, because i wanted to do so much more than just control 11 little virtual men on a screen, i wanted to control everything everything they did! Which you can do in FM.

But its a question you cant quite put your finger on, but something that we will always associate FM with. Why is it so god damn addictive?

In fact, after all this shite Ive just written, Ive got the FM Urge once more, and I’m going to boot it up now and play till my hearts content. Lovely.

The FM scene is a tough place. People tend to judge you before they know you, Ive done it myself and im sure many people reading this have as-well. People try and ignore reputation, but it always counts for something.

Take Jackwilson for example. As some of you may know, I’m currently doing a site with him, In-The-Stand. The lad hasn’t got the best reputation on the scene, especially at TI, where i had to try and fight back the baying mob that wanted his and Putzy’s head on a stick, and probably now mine. But OK, the kid has rustled a few feathers and made a few mistakes. Haven’t we all? Give him a chance.

I was doing most of the advertising for the site, and people were not even visiting because they knew it was Jack’s site. My answer is, don’t judge something on your views and opinions of one person. The scene has changed alot from what it was when i first started out. Its all ‘lolz’ and ‘tbpfh’ and its all about quantity rather than quality, give or a take a few.

Once again this falls back to reputation. It separates the arse lickers from the people who like to speak their mind and say what they feel. I think i fall into the latter bracket, what about you?

Hey. Welcome to my Blog. Most of you will know me as Cammack around the FM ’scene’. I created and ran my own site a while ago, called FM Fanatic, which merged with Goal Kick. I co-owned and ran that for a good couple of months before moving on to numerous other side projects, which haven’t really taken off.

I thought i would indulge in one of these blogs, to give back what the FM Scene has given to me.

So, expect some self-pitiful, witty, yet interesting articles to come from yours truly as soon as i get my arse in gear and my cup of coffee by my side.
